From Coach Martin -
On a day without relays, Alaska swimmers stepped up with some
impressive individual efforts.
In what is believed to be a first in the History of Alaska
Swimming, Cori West and Tessa Hasbrouck finished 1st and 2nd in the
17-18 200 meter freestyle. It was one of four finals with two
Alaskan swimmers.
Auri Clark and Janelle Stacy finished 5th and 7th in the 15-16 100
meter fly. Tyler Mickelson and Phillip Martinez were 4th and
6th in the men’s division. Right before West and
Hasbrouck’s swim, Jordyn Caldwell and Emilee Johnson were 6th
and 7th in the 15-16 200 freestyle.
Ciera Kelly added a silver in the 11-12 50 meter fly. Ryan
O’Leary jumped up to 4th in the 15-16 200 freestyle.
Alaska maintained their seventh place in the team standings, with
two more days to go.
