Western Zone Recap; Day 4 - Cori West adds another victory

Alaska had another Western Zone champion today!  Cori West, riding the wave of her 200 free victory last night, fought off the competition over the last 100 meters to win the 17/18 girls 400 free tonight.  Alaska has now won at least one event every day!

 

Other swimmers placing tonight included Phillip Martinez 4th in the 15/16 boys 200 fly, Mia Ruffin 5th in the girls 10/under 50 breast, Tessa Hasbrouck 7th in 17/18 girls 100 breast, and Jordyn Caldwell  8th place in the 15/16 girls 400 free.

 

The 18 & under boys relay team (Marsh, Martinez, Mickelson, O’Leary) grabbed a 5th place in the 200 Medley Relay.  The 18& under girls (O’Leary, Hasbrouck, West, Ruffin) placed 7th with 10 year old Mia chasing down the competition on the anchor leg, and the 11/12 girls (Kelly, Jennings, Isaak, Burke)  finished 8th.

 

Saturday is the final day of competition.  Alaska fell one spot today into 8th place, only 16 points behind Wyoming.
