From Coach Martin -

Alaska Swimming continued it’s strong Zone meet with eight different swimmers scoring in individual finals on the second day, along with three relays.

Ciera Kelly, 12, won the 50 meter free, breaking a twelve year-old state record.  Her 27.87 was faster than Bryn Spores’ 1997 28.07.  Ciera added a sixth place in the 100 backstroke.

Tessa Hasbrouck, 17, added Alaska’s second individual champion, in the 17-18 50 free.  Cori West placed fourth in the same final.  On the men’s side, Ryan O’Leary and Tyler Mickelson placed 4th and 7th in the 15-16 sprint free.

Evan Marsh (6th, 11-12 100 back), Janelle Stacy (4th, 15-16 200 back), and Mia Ruffin (5th, 10&Under 100 breaststroke) added individual points to the team effort.

Once again, the sum was greater than the parts, as ASI’s relays rose to the occaission.  Stacy, Emilee Johnson, Auri Clark and Jordyn Caldwell placed third in the 15-16 400 Medley Relay.  Meghan O’Leary, Kendra Standley, Hasbrouck, and West matched their effort in the 18&Under division.  Marsh joined Phillip Martinez, Mickelson and O’Leary for 6th in the 18&Under men’s division.
